Kilmarnock
In Kilmarnock's heart the weekday ends,
The clock strikes five, the workday bends,
Neighbours gather, voices blend,
As Friday's light the street extends.
Here Johnnie Walker's amber streams,
Slide gentle as the Irvine's dreams,
A dram shared 'midst old stone and beams,
A toast to weeks and coming schemes.
The Killie roar, a scarlet tide,
Fills Rugby Park with pride and stride,
Each chant a hymn, each goal a bride,
Of hope that in the West does bide.
When night descends, the lanterns glow,
On cobbled ways where stories flow,
Kilmarnock's heart beats soft and slow,
A friendly town where good friends go.
