About Friday Fun

Friday Fun has had a long and interesting history, starting in the late 1990s.

The Friday Fun website originally developed from a small group of colleagues and ex-colleagues who attempted to make Fridays at work more bearable by swapping jokes every Friday. As more and more Friday Fun people left the company, we decided that creating a website to hold the jokes might be a good idea. Like all good ideas, it just sort of grew from there.

Over time, it morphed from being a collection of jokes into a lyric website as well as a source of downloadable ringtonesd (remember them?). But then, in the late noughties, it all kind of fell apart. The original code was too crufty, several of the data sources ceased to be available, and looking after it was simply too much effort. So the remaining useful content was shifted elsewhere, and the main site was replaced with a holding page.

And that's where it lingered for a long time. An abortive attempt to restart the site went nowhere, so it's essentially done nothing for over a decade.

But... we're back! This is still a work in progress, but over time the aim is to recreate a site that has useful and fun content. We're slowly recreating the jokes content, making sure this time to avoid anything which is even remotely NSFW (one of the things that caused problems before, because it upset advertisers), as well as adding new content.

Because after all - every day should be at least partly Friday!

Although originally a personal project, Friday Fun is now, for practical reasons, administered as part of the Good Stuff portfolio of websites. So all the contact details at the Good Stuff website can be used if you want to get in touch about Friday Fun. Alternatively, the direct email address still works: funmaster {at} fridayfun.net (making the obvious substitution to turn that into a working email address).
