poetry

In the quiet hush of evening’s sigh,
The sun withdraws its golden seam,
And leaves behind a solemn sigh—
An umbra draped in twilight’s dream.

It folds the hills in sable silk,
Where daylight’s laughter fades to grey,
A silent cloak that drinks the milk
Of night, and holds the stars at bay.

No flame can pierce its velvety depth,
No whisper breaks its still, dark sheet—
It is the earth’s own held breath,
A lover’s shade where day and night meet.

So let us walk within its cool,
Embrace the mute, embracing night,
And find in shadow’s gentle rule
A peace that turns the dark to light.
