Smile

poetry

In the hush of a rainy afternoon,
Your smile breaks the grey like a thin shaft of light,
Warm as a fresh‑baked scone, soft as a woollen scarf,
It turns the bustling tube into a quiet theatre of calm.

A ripple spreads across the platform,
Turning hurried strangers into reluctant allies,
Each grin a silent promise that, even in drizzle,
Kindness can travel farther than any locomotive.
