Break

poetry

When the world seems to fray at the edges,
a gentle break appears—
a pause in the endless hum of traffic,
the soft sigh of a kettle’s whistle,
the moment sunlight slips through half‑drawn curtains
and paints the kitchen tiles in gold.

It is the break between heartbeats,
the breath held before laughter bursts,
the interval when thoughts settle like dust
on a windowsill overlooking a quiet street.

In that brief interlude, worries loosen their grip,
the mind stretches, uncoiling like a cat
after a long nap,
and the soul remembers how to simply be—
not rushing, not fixing, just existing
in the fragile, beautiful space
where everything can, for a moment,
be whole again.
