A token, small and modest, rests in palm—
A piece of paper, metal, bright as coin,
A symbol of the promises we make,
A pledge that bridges hearts, though thin and thin.

It may be given at a birthday’s cheer,
Or tucked within a lover’s folded note,
A keepsake of a moment, fleeting yet dear,
A silent whisper that we wrote.

In queues it buys a bus ride home,
In games it marks a turn or score,
In temples it is offered, humble, to the dome,
A sign of thanks we cannot ignore.

So let us cherish this modest thing,
That carries meaning far beyond its size—
A token’s quiet power can bring
Great joy, when love in small disguise lies.
