Diver
Beneath the sky‑kissed tide, the diver slips,
A quiet silhouette against the blue,
With fins that whisper like the sea‑foam’s tips,
He glides where sun‑lit shafts of water brew.
His breath—a steady hiss from steel‑clad lung—
Draws in the brine, the kelp, the ancient sigh,
While coral arches, bright and fiercely strung,
Form cathedrals where the shy fish lie.
He traces wrecks that sleep in sable sand,
Their rusted ribs a tale of voyages past,
Each barnacle a story, each grain of sand
A footnote in the ocean’s endless cast.
Above, the world rushes with noisy cheer,
But down below, time folds in silent grace,
The diver floats, a pilgrim, volunteer,
Embracing peace within the liquid space.
When lungs grow taut and light begins to wane,
He kicks toward the surface, bright and keen,
Carrying the depths’ soft, murmuring refrain—
A secret hymn that lingers, unseen.
