Cliftonville

poetry
Cliftonville’s quiet streets awaken
With mist that clings to terraced rows,
Where pastel doors and sash‑windows
Whisper stories the tide now knows.
The seafront promenade sighs softly,
Gulls carving arcs above the pier,
Their cries a salt‑kissed lullaby
For dreamers strolling year by year.
In cafés tucked behind the arcade,
Steam curls from cups of robust tea,
While locals chat of football scores,
And share a laugh, a fond decree.
The park, a patch of emerald green,
Holds children’s laughter, bright and stark,
Beneath the chestnut’s amber canopy
Where autumn leaves embark.
Cliftonville, you blend the old and new,
A neighbourly tapestry, warm and true—
A modest jewel upon the coast,
Where every heart can find its host.
