Feign

In quiet rooms where shadows play,
We learn to feign a smile each day,
A mask of silk, a whispered lie,
To hide the storm that brews inside.

We wear our hearts like stage‑costume,
Recite the lines the world assumes,
Yet underneath the polished guise,
A truth waits, patient, un‑surprised.

So when the curtain falls at night,
The feigned delight turns pale, then bright,
For honesty, though scarce, will seep,
Through cracks of pretence, whilst we sleep.
