Haverfordwest County

poetry
In Haverfordwest’s ancient heart,
Where cobblestones recall the past,
The River Cleddau gently parts
The town from fields that breathe and last.
Grey stone of castle keeps the watch,
Its towers sigh above the square,
While market stalls in colours catch
The scent of bread and Welsh rarebit fair.
Beyond the lanes, the rolling hills
Unfold in shades of emerald green,
A patchwork quilt where silence fills
The valleys, soft and serene.
Footpaths wind through bracken gold,
Where otters play in shaded streams,
And skies above, a story told
Of Celtic myths and sunlit dreams.
O Haverfordwest, you quiet gem,
Your charm endures through time’s soft thread—
A place where past and present stem,
And every soul is kindly led.
