Clunk
In the quiet of the workshop, a spanner slips from greasy hands, its steel kisses the concrete floor— a single, resonant clunk.
It echoes like a distant bell, summoning thoughts of rusted gears, of locomotives sighing at the platform, of a heavy suitcase dropped upon the platform.
The sound is modest, yet it tells of weight, of meeting, of abrupt halt— a brief interruption in the hum of everyday British life.
So let the clunk linger, a reminder that even the smallest impact can reverberate through the cobbles of memory.
