poetry

In a quiet lab, beneath the humming lights,
A single cell awakes, a twin in waiting—
Identical in code, yet yearning for its own spark,
A mirror that dares to dream beyond the glass.

We watch the miracle of replication,
Where nature’s script is copied, line by line,
Each nucleotide a whispered promise,
Each chromosome a familiar refrain.

But what of soul, that ineffable thread?
Does it divide, or does it stay whole,
Residing in the original’s quiet echo,
While the clone walks a parallel path?

In fields of wheat, the cloned stalks stand tall,
Uniform in height, yet each ear sways uniquely,
A testament to unity and individuality intertwined—
A chorus of voices singing the same ancient song.

So let us ponder the clone, not merely as copy,
But as a reflection of our own desire to understand,
To see ourselves in another’s eyes,
And in that seeing, to find both wonder and humility.
