Crash

poetry
In the hush before night’s soft sigh,
A sudden crash—metal kisses the rain‑slicked lane—
Shards scatter like startled starlings,
Glittering fragments of hurried haste.
The engine’s roar stutters, a gasp,
Then silence drapes the tarmac like a woolen blanket,
Only the distant wail of sirens
Threads through the mist, a thin, mournful seam.
Tyres sigh in surrender,
Steam curls from twisted bonnets,
A fleeting tableau of chaos and calm,
Where speed’s bright promise meets the road’s quiet claim.
From wreckage rises a quiet resolve,
Hands reach, voices low,
In the aftermath of the crash,
We find the fragile stitch that mends us.
