poetry
Since the dawn slipped quiet over the hills,
Since the river learned to hum its old refrain,
Since the sky turned from pewter to amber,
And the sparrows took their leave in soft‑spoken chains.
Since the kettle sang its low, steady note,
Since the pages of the book began to sigh,
Since the coffee cooled in the china cup,
And the world outside grew a little shy.
Since the clock’s hands traced their patient arc,
Since the shadows stretched and then withdrew,
Since the heart found rhythm in the quiet pause,
And remembered how to beat anew.
Since then, every moment has been a whisper,
A gentle nudge from the past to the present,
A reminder that life unfolds in the spaces
Between the breaths we take and the ones we have spent.
