Guppy

In the quiet of the aquarium,
A guppy darts, a flash of orange flame,
Its tiny fins a delicate fan,
A living jewel in water’s plan.

From shallow streams to glass‑bound tanks,
It weaves through reeds and frond‑like ranks,
A splash of colour, bright and gay,
In British waters night and day.

The guppy’s grace, a gentle sway,
A reminder that beauty holds sway,
Even in the smallest, humblest form—
A humble fish that keeps us warm.
