Whiff

A sudden whisper on the breeze,
A fleeting scent that teases—
Of damp earth after rain,
Or lavender that drifts again.

It lifts, then fades, a ghost of smell,
A memory that loves to dwell
Just beyond the reach of thought,
A tender tug, a quiet naught.

In London lanes or country lanes,
It dances through the window panes,
Reminding us that life’s sweet art
Is often caught in just a whiff.
