Ode to the Lever

In workshops old and modern halls,
A humble lever answers calls.
With effort pressed on its long arm,
It lifts the load, disarms the harm.

The fulcrum stands, a steady friend,
Where force and weight find bend and blend.
From Archimedes’ ancient claim
To today’s garden gate’s simple frame—

The lever works, a quiet art,
Turning small labour into heart.
So raise a cheer for this modest tool,
The world’s quiet, steadfast rule.
