A caterpillar named Colin

poetry
Colin the caterpillar, humble and small,
Creeps through the lettuce, his favourite sprawl.
His body is striped in shades of jade,
A tiny explorer in the garden’s shade.
He munches the leaves with a steady, slow chew,
Turning each bite into energy true.
When the sun dips low and the shadows grow long,
Colin curls up, humming a soft, sleepy song.
Soon he will spin a silken, snug cocoon,
A chrysalis waiting beneath the June moon.
Inside, transformation works quiet and neat,
Till a butterfly breaks forth, wings bright and sweet.
So here’s to Colin, the caterpillar dear,
Who shows us that patience brings beauty most clear.
