Eject

From the seat of steel, a sudden thrust,
A hiss of gas, a sigh of dust—
The world outside the cockpit blurs,
As forces pull and adrenaline stirs.

In the belly of the bird, a pilot’s heart,
Counts seconds, feels the tearing part,
Then bursts free—parachute unfurled,
A silken dome against the whirl.

Above the fields, the clouds part wide,
A silent drift where fears subside,
The earth below a patchwork quilt,
Of green and brown, of guilt and guilt.

Yet ejection is not just of flesh,
It’s thoughts expelled, a conscience’s mesh—
When words are spat, when doubts are cast,
We shed the weight that held us fast.

So whether metal wings or mind’s own flight,
The act to eject reclaims the light,
A brief, fierce leap from confined despair,
To float, to breathe, to find fresh air.
