Total
In quiet rows of numbers lined,
A sum emerges, calm and kind—
Each digit, a whispered thread,
Weaving cloth where thoughts are fed.
From single ones to countless nines,
The total gathers, intertwines.
It holds the echo of each part,
A silent pulse, a steady heart.
When fractions fade and doubts depart,
What remains is whole, unscarred—
Not merely count, but essence true,
The universe reduced to two:
The part and all, the near and far,
Bound together, a single star.
So let us reckon not just pence,
But moments, hopes, and humble sense—
For in the total’s steady gaze,
We find the measure of our days.
