Jewel
Tuesday 1 April 2025
poetry
In quiet drawers where whispers sleep,
A jewel lies, its secrets keep:
A sapphire tide of midnight hue,
Reflecting skies of deep‑sea blue.
Its facets catch the amber glow,
Like sunrise spilling over snow,
Each angle sings a muted hymn,
A chorus soft, both bright and dim.
Not merely stone nor cold‑cut glass,
But time condensed, a fragile mass
Of earth’s own breath, of pressure’s art,
A heartbeat trapped within a heart.
When fingers trace its polished curve,
The world seems paused, the nerves un‑swerved—
A fleeting glimpse of permanence,
A promise wrought in silent trance.
So let us cherish, hold, revere,
This tiny star we hold so dear—
For in its glow we find, sincere,
The echo of what we hold most near.
