Leave

In the hush of a railway station,
steam curls like whispered goodbyes,
the platform sighs under a grey‑tinted sky,
as footsteps retreat on wet cobbles.

A suitcase thuds, a latch clicks shut,
the scent of rain‑kissed leather lingers,
while a lone sparrow watches from the eaves,
its wings poised for the unknown horizon.

We leave behind the warmth of familiar kettles,
the murmur of neighbours over garden fences,
the comforting weight of a well‑worn jumper,
yet carry forward the quiet hope of new beginnings.

For every departure is a promise stitched
into the fabric of tomorrow’s dawn—
a tender, bittersweet note in the symphony of life,
where to leave is also to begin.
