Peace
Sunday 27 August 2023
poetry
In quiet hush of morning’s first light,
When mist like silk drifts over fields of green,
The world exhales, and wars take flight,
Leaving space where gentle thoughts convene.
Hands once clenched now open wide,
Offering warmth instead of steel;
A smile, a word, a whispered tide,
Can mend the rifts that pain may seal.
Peace is not merely absence of sound,
But presence of love that steadies the heart,
A steady river, safe and profound,
Where every soul can find its part.
So let us tend this fragile bloom,
Water it with kindness, day by day,
Until the earth inhales sweet perfume,
And hatred fades, and night gives way.
