Leafy

poetry

In the hush of morning, leaves unfurl their jade,
A canopy of verdant whispers overhead,
Sunlight filters through the emerald canopy,
Painting the earth in dappled gold and shade.

The rustle sings a lullaby of summer’s sigh,
Each fluttered fringe a soft, enduring hymn,
Roots clutch the loam, anchoring the sky,
While breezes dance through every leafy limb.

When autumn arrives, the foliage turns to fire,
Amber, russet, and burnt sienna glow,
A fleeting tapestry before they retire,
Leaving bare boughs that patiently await the snow.

Yet even in dormancy, the promise lies,
In dormant buds that wait the spring’s return,
For leafy dreams will rise beneath the skies,
And green will once again the world discern.
